GL Richardson (b. Richmond, VA, 1993) is an artist whose practice is deeply connected with the evolving narrative of the modern West. Painting out of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Richardson's work navigates the complexities of contemporary rural life through a vivid, painterly lens. His works, which are held in private collections worldwide, have graced both group and solo exhibitions across the United States.

Richardson’s distinctive voice emerged following a transformative year spent working as a ranchhand on a cattle ranch in central New Mexico. This formative experience catalyzed a profound engagement with the ranching world, a relationship that still reverberates in his life and art. His paintings, rich with the textures and stories of ranch life, offer a contemporary dialogue with traditional themes, blending personal reflection with broader cultural resonance. The artist’s exploration of Western themes is not merely a depiction of place but an evocative commentary on identity and experience.

His work, which resonates with a diverse audience, bridges the gap between the pastoral and the urban, finding its way from ranch bunkhouses to high-rise apartments. Through his nuanced portrayals, Richardson taps into a collective consciousness, reminding us of the shared human experiences that connect us across time and space.
